SOFT Go To Sheerwater
Fri. evening was a welcome space for families and new members to get acquainted.
Sat. had an opening ceremony, AGM and instead of a guest speaker we had a workshop on “The Future of SOFT” which was great idea and lots to follow up. That evening we had the Gala Dinner, Disco by CORKY, Raffle with donated prizes which went down well and most important the Fancy Dress for Kids was impressive.
Sun. had the closing ceremony which included the tribute book and tapestry. The centre piece for the weekend was the SOFT family tree. We also had poems and readings which were very touching and were well received. The balloon release was dedicated to those who are still with us and to those who are with us in spirit. The highlight was the celebration of Ellen’s 21st birthday.
We have new Chairperson Alex and Contact Co-Ordinator Helena with Jim as Treasurer and Antoinette as Secretary. Many thanks to Pat for leaving SOFT well positioned to go forward in the future and to Alma for taking on the magazine. A big Thank You to Ann and Jane for organising the weekend and having a smooth interaction with the Shearwater Hotel who were excellent.

The Soft Committee is excited to bring this year’s SOFT October Break and AGM to the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, October 13th – 15th. The conference will include many of the annual traditions you’ve come to love and expect: A Welcome Evening; Lighting our SOFT Candle and Remembering our angels and surviving children with our SOFT Tree, Gala dinner complete with music and dancing, the popular Raffle and Balloon Release.
The conference is only a few weeks away and we encourage everyone to attend. For our old friends, it’s a great way to catch up and renew friendships. To our new family members, this is a great opportunity to meet with families and share experiences. Full details on conference agenda and costs will be emailed to members shortly.
