Hospital Project April 2014

SOFT Ireland have made this year the year to re-introduce ourselves to the Maternity units across Ireland.  We plan to put in place a team to work with John and Helen Shine.  John and Helen have put a lot of work into creating contacts within these departments and trying to keep information updated and keep our name to hand in time of need.  The team will work as a local contact with hospital in your area, starting first with presenting laminated colour posters with SOFT contact details clearly visible to be positioned in staff/family rooms.  If you think you could spare a few moments to visit your local hospital please contact us with your name and location.

This is still ongoing with a dedicated Information officer and Team

Every Life Counts Campaign March 2015

SOFT Irl are supporting the Every Life Counts campaign to stop the phrase “incompatible with life” being used as a medical reference or diagnoses for critically ill babies. Researchers and families (including some of our SOFT members) will launch the ‘Geneva Declaration on Perinatal Care’ at the United Nations in Geneva tomorrow March 11th.
It states that “As medical practitioners and researchers, we declare that the term ‘incompatible with life’ is not a medical diagnosis and should not be used when describing unborn children who may have a life-limiting condition.” The full declaration can be read by clicking the below link. http://www.genevaperinatalcare.com/
